Docs to Watch is operated by Docs to Watch, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

What we collect and why

If you sign up to our newsletter. We collect your email address. We use it only to send you the newsletter. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give when you sign up, and which you can withdraw at any time.

If you visit this website. Our hosting provider records standard server log data, including your IP address, the pages you request, the time of the request, and your browser type. This is used to keep the site running and secure. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site.

If you email us. We keep your message and contact details so we can reply and keep a record of the correspondence.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Nothing on this site requires a cookie banner.

Our page fonts are delivered by Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font, your IP address is sent to Google. If you would rather avoid this, you can block third-party requests in your browser.

Who we share your data with

• beehiiv, Inc. runs our newsletter. Your email address is stored on their systems in the United States.
• IONOS hosts this website and processes server log data.
• Vimeo / VHX operates the film store. If you rent or buy a film, that transaction is between you and Vimeo, under their own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing.

Data sent outside the UK and EEA

beehiiv is based in the United States, so your email address is transferred outside the UK and EEA. That transfer relies on the safeguards set out in beehiiv's data processing terms, which include the standard contractual clauses approved for this purpose. You can ask us for more detail using the contact address above.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, after which it is removed from our list. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host and then deleted. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
• ask us to delete your data
• ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to us using it
• ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider
• withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time, without affecting anything we sent before

Every newsletter we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email us at patrick@docstowatch.com and we will action any of the above.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
